Cradle of Forestry

Cradle of Forestry in America Interpretive Association (CFAIA)

Being a host with the Cradle of Forestry in America Interpretive Association (CFAIA) is an exciting opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, meet new friends, and provide assistance and information to visitors. Hosts at the Cradle of Forestry Heritage Site are a vital part of helping visitors explore the past, present, and future of environmental sustainability and stewardship through paved interpretive trails, interactive exhibits, film, music, drama, guided tours, nature programs, craft demonstrations, and special events. A sustainably designed Forest Discovery Center with its gift shop and café welcomes visitors to the historical structures and a relaxing walk through the woods or neighboring Pink Beds Valley.

In addition to providing quality customer service, host duties vary and may include opening and closing facilities, greeting visitors, collecting entrance fees, running the gift shop, caretaking grounds and facilities, and assisting with a variety of educational and historical programs and special events. Hosts work 8 hour shifts in 2 or 3 day cycles with breaks of 2 and 3 days between (maximum 3 days per week). If staffing levels allow, hosts may be assigned to a preferred focus area: 1). Guest Information & Gift Shop Services; 2). Caretaking & Landscaping Services; and/or 3). Interpretive Services. Host benefits include: FHU (30/50 amp), Wi-Fi and cell service(US Cellular and Verizon), uniform shirts, gift shop discount, kitchen/laundry facilities in the Host Community Building, and time off to explore the area.
